Luxamul®

Xanthan Gum, Sclerotium Gum, Sapindus Mukorossi Fruit Extract
White cream on a peach background

A cold process emulsifier that creates luxurious, cream-gel textures. This easy to use powder provides an all-in-one solution for thickening and emulsification that is also highly compatible with a wide range of actives, including acids, electrolytes, enzymes and solvents.

100% naturally derived, it is based on Soapberry saponins which are extracted using only water to give a concentrated emulsifier with excellent stabilising properties. This, combined with natural gums, enables the creation of smooth and stable serums, lotions and creams with a luxuriously silky, silicone-like feel.

With proven moisturisation properties, this mild ingredient with low use level is suitable for creams, lotions, body and facial washes, baby products and even hair wash applications.

Introducing Luxamul®

Questions & answers

Can Luxamul® be used to thicken my natural surfactant blend?

Many natural surfactants can be thickened using Luxamul®, experiment yourself or ask one of our team for advice.

How long do I need to mix a Luxamul® emulsion for during manufacturing?

In the lab a Luxamul® emulsion is formed immediately, but for full hydration of the gums, several minutes of homogenisation is recommended. In the factory it would depend on the mixer type but when a smooth cream is formed then the mixing is complete.

How can I alter the viscosity of a cream to make it thicker and richer?

This is easy to do with Luxamul®, our recommendation is to add glyceryl stearate, fatty alcohols, butters or waxes. These all need to be melted in the oil phase before combining with the water and Luxamul® phase.

Can I heat Luxamul®?

Luxamul® is fully heat stable and can be used in a hot or cold process.

Do I need to add extra thickeners or co-emulsifiers?

No, Luxamul® already has all the emulsifiers and thickeners built in and will thicken and stabilise in one.

How much oil can I emulsify with Luxamul®?

You can emulsify up to 30% of oil, with 1 part of Luxamul® emulsifying up to 10 parts of oil.
